Kowhai Cross Country Training

Today we had our first cross country training.
The Kowhai Whanau teachers were so impressed with how well everyone did. We saw so many children putting in the effort to keep running which is amazing!

Well done to everyone who remembered to bring in their Sunnyhills fitness gear.
Remember to bring it every Monday and Wednesday!

Kowhai Whanau Assembly Week 6

Last Friday Room 13 presented some of our learning at the Kowhai Whanau assembly.
Our inquiry topic is about the ocean so we all chose a sea animal to research.
We used a couple of different websites to search, read information and watch videos to find interesting facts about our chosen animal.
We then painted a blue background and cut out our animal to create the artwork.
Have a look at a few of them below.

We also had some superstars receive certificates at the assembly.
Well done to Olive, Jacob and Senumi for all their hard work and positive attitudes over the past few weeks.

Structure of a Recount

In Writing, we have been learning to write recounts. To help us with structuring our recounts, we did an activity.

First, we looked at what goes into a recount. We used this poster to help us learn the structure.

We were then put into groups and given a recount that was all mixed up. We had to work as a team to put the piece of writing into the correct order based on what we had learnt about the structure of a recount.
It was a bit tricky but we all got there in the end!
